Why direct your business to Flat 6 Innovations? The answer to this question is very simple and straight forward: We were the first and remain the best in the field of M96/ M97 engine development, repair and complete engine reconstruction in the USA. This began with the earliest of Porsche 996, and Boxster engines, and continues today, with the 9a1 and 9a2 engines. We are not “car guys” as we do not work with all aspects of a car. What we do are engines, and we only do engines.
When the other shops were laughing at us years ago for jumping into the M96 engine (that was believed to be disposable) we were learning the infinite details of the engine, building them and breaking them. We were developing products, tools, and assembly procedures that would find us a decade ahead of the rest of the industry. Most of this was done behind closed doors in a special area of our Cleveland Georgia headquarters, while it appeared that our only focus was Porsche Aircooled engines.
Today, because of this, these same shops and people call us for assistance concerning the engine that is foreign to them, but is now second nature to us. Years later, those shops (who were laughing at us) are using the products, and tools that we developed, and they are the same people who fill our hands- on engine rebuild schools with their technicians. More ironically, these same shops will sometimes leverage our products when trying to retain your business by stating “We use the same parts as Flat 6”. No they don’t. The things they can buy off of shelves aren’t what we will use to reconstruct your engine. Those components will trickle down to them 3-5 years later. They don’t know, what they don’t know.
Today, and for more than a decade we have remained at the top of the food chain, with others making statements like “Just as good as Flat 6 Innovations, but 1/2 the price.”
Nope… It sucks for those who believed that, as we’ve received several horror stories from those purchasers. This is a classic story of lies, deceit, and bad ethics that we hear over, and over again. Today most of the engines we see have been “molested” by a generic Porsche shop, and in some cases we can’t undo what they’ve done. We don’t even try.
Some Facts:
Fact #1: When your local dealership or independent repair shop becomes stumped by your problem they will reach out to us for assistance.
Fact #2: When your local shop reaches out for instruction, they will attend our M96 Engine Rebuild School.
Fact #3: Jake Raby, Founder, and President of Raby Engine Development/ Flat 6 Innovations completed the first step by step engine assembly video series for the the M96/M97 engine family in 2020. This 15 hour series is designed to further assist with training those who weren’t as forward thinking as they should have been two decades ago. You can buy it at www.theknowledgegruppe.com
Fact #4: Look for the “M96 Definitive Guide” to be written by Mr. Raby in the future.
Why deal with closed minded shops that are not proficient with your engine and simply do not want to work with it? Why not ship it to the guys who started it all, developed the procedures, solved the problems, and moreover do not need to call in reinforcements when the going gets tough. Have an IMS bearing issue or want a retrofit? We extracted the first IMS Bearing, and performed the first retrofit. The Founder of Flat 6 Innovations, Jake Raby personally developed the extraction tool, and procedure that your technician will be using to extract the bearing should you decide to risk the process being done at some other facility.
Under our roof the Invention that lead Jake Raby and Charles Navarro to 5 US Patents being issued for Porsche IMS, and Porsche M9X related products occurred. These are US Patents:
- 8,992,089
- 9,416,697
- 9,687,974
- 9,909,369
- 10,267,419

Want to utilize upgraded LN Engineering products? Ship your car, or engine to Flat 6 Innovations where we worked from day one with LN Engineering and have co-developed their entire product line, having tested all these products here in our lab. In 1999 the team that would become LN Engineering came to Jake Raby with an idea. This idea was only a college project at the time. Mr. Raby not only supported their efforts, but encouraged it to become a business. Months later the prototype parts were delivered, and Raby Engine Development became LN Engineering’s first customer. Two decades later, those same components are still in service, and we have remained LN’s developmental partner, as well as their largest customer~
Bypass the BS and chances that your car may have to be hauled to us in pieces if your local shop fails to repair yours issue, just call Flat 6. We call that “ a trunk job”, since all the pieces come disassembled, in the trunk, after the other guy gave up. These are the most expensive endeavors, don’t make a bad decision, just because it seems “cheaper”.
You have one chance to do this right.. People never seem to have the time, or the budget to do it right the first time, but somehow they always afford the time, and money top do it twice..
